Questions & answers
Everything homeowners and businesses ask before a wallpaper project — from estimates and ordering to wall prep, materials, and care. Still unsure? Just send us a message.
Estimates & Getting Started
The cost depends on several factors — the size and condition of the walls, ceiling height, wallpaper material, pattern complexity, and how much preparation is needed.
Once we review your project details, wall measurements, and wallpaper specifications, we provide a customized estimate.
Send us photos of the walls, approximate measurements, your location, and a link or photo of the wallpaper you selected — all through our request form.
For larger, more detailed, or commercial projects, an on-site consultation may be recommended before we provide a final estimate.
Send us the following through the request form:
- Your project address or ZIP code
- Photos or videos of the walls
- Approximate wall measurements
- Ceiling height
- A link or photo of the wallpaper
- The number of rolls or mural panels ordered
- Your preferred installation timeframe
Once we review it, we'll follow up with the next steps and let you know whether an on-site consultation is needed.
Availability varies through the year, so it's best to reach out as soon as you've chosen your wallpaper or have an approximate timeline.
Your installation date should be confirmed only after the wallpaper has arrived, the quantity has been verified, and any wall preparation has been discussed.
We install wallpaper across the Puget Sound region — the I-5 corridor from Blaine down to Tacoma, spanning King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, and Pierce counties.
Send your project address or ZIP and we'll confirm availability. Travel fees may apply to locations outside our primary service area.
Choosing & Ordering Wallpaper
Clients typically purchase their own wallpaper, which lets you choose the exact design, material, and brand you prefer.
We're glad to review the specifications before you order and help estimate how many rolls or panels your project may need.
The amount required depends on more than total square footage. We also consider:
- Wall dimensions
- Doors and windows
- Pattern repeat
- Wallpaper width and roll length
- Matching requirements
- Installation direction
- Allowance for trimming and waste
Please contact us before placing your order. Ordering based only on square footage can leave you short, especially with large pattern repeats or murals.
Yes — we generally recommend ordering a little beyond the exact calculated amount.
Extra material may be needed for pattern matching, trimming, installation waste, or future repairs. Dye lots can vary, so ordering another roll later may not match the color exactly.
Yes. We regularly work with wallpaper from online retailers, local showrooms, interior designers, and independent manufacturers.
Before ordering, review the return policy and request a sample when possible — color, texture, scale, and thickness can look different in person than on a screen.
We can give practical guidance on material quality, installation difficulty, wall suitability, and the amount required.
For full interior design help — color coordination and room styling — we recommend working with an interior designer or wallpaper showroom.
Yes — please check the shipment as soon as it arrives and confirm that:
- The design and color are correct
- All rolls share the same dye lot or batch number
- The quantity is correct
- The panels are not damaged
- Custom mural dimensions match the order
- The manufacturer's instructions are included
Please don't discard labels or packaging until the installation is complete.
Wallpaper Types & Murals
We install many residential and commercial wallcoverings, including:
- Traditional and non-woven wallpaper
- Pre-pasted and unpasted wallpaper
- Vinyl wallcoverings
- Grasscloth and other natural materials
- Textile and specialty wallcoverings
- Wallpaper murals
- Peel-and-stick wallpaper
Delicate, handmade, metallic, textured, or natural materials need extra preparation and specialized techniques. Send us the product information so we can confirm it suits your space.
Yes, we install peel-and-stick wallpaper.
Although it's marketed as an easy DIY product, straight seams, accurate pattern alignment, and a smooth finish can still be challenging — and the wall must be properly prepared and compatible with the adhesive.
Quality varies a lot between products. Some materials stretch, shrink, bubble, or have weak adhesive, so send us the details first.
Yes — both traditional wallpaper murals and custom-printed murals.
Before installation we carefully review the panel sequence, total dimensions, image placement, overlap instructions, and manufacturer specifications. The wall must be smooth, properly prepared, and correctly sized for the mural.
Walls, Preparation & Removal
The best results come from a wall that's clean, smooth, sound, and primed for wallpaper. Ideally the surface is:
- Clean and dry
- Smooth and structurally sound
- Free from dust, grease, and residue
- Properly repaired
- Primed with an appropriate wallpaper primer
In most projects the wall is already in good shape, so we install directly — preparation isn't part of a standard job. If a wall does need work, we'll point it out and can add the necessary prep to your estimate. (Note: standard paint primer isn't always the same as wallpaper primer.)
Wallpaper performs best on smooth, clean, properly prepared surfaces.
Light texture can sometimes be corrected with sanding, skim coating, or lining paper. Medium or heavy texture usually needs to be smoothed first — installing over pronounced texture can cause visible bumps, poor adhesion, and uneven seams.
Wall preparation can be included in your estimate after we evaluate the surface.
We can handle minor preparation — filling small holes, repairing minor imperfections, sanding, and applying wallpaper primer.
Walls with extensive water damage, active moisture problems, major drywall damage, mold, or structural issues may need to be repaired by the appropriate contractor before installation begins.
Yes, but the paint must be fully cured per the manufacturer's instructions.
Fresh paint that feels dry may not be fully cured; installing too soon can affect adhesion and damage the painted surface. We also recommend an appropriate wallpaper primer before installation.
New drywall must be properly finished, sanded, cleaned, sealed, and primed first.
Wallpaper should never go directly over unfinished drywall — without primer, the adhesive can absorb into the drywall facing and make future removal extremely difficult.
Yes, wallpaper removal may be available as part of the project.
Time and cost depend on the material, number of layers, type of adhesive, wall condition, and whether the walls were properly primed before the previous installation.
After removal, walls may need cleaning, repairs, sanding, skim coating, and priming before new wallpaper goes up.
In most cases we recommend removing the existing wallpaper first.
Installing over old material can cause problems with adhesion, visible seams, bubbling, texture, and moisture. We inspect the existing wallcovering and surface before deciding whether an exception makes sense.
Rooms & Surfaces
Yes — wallpaper works in many bathrooms and powder rooms.
The room should have adequate ventilation, and wallpaper shouldn't go in areas with direct, frequent water exposure unless the product is designed for it. Vinyl or moisture-resistant wallcoverings are often a practical choice; natural materials like grasscloth are more sensitive to moisture and staining.
Yes — wallpaper can work well in kitchens when the surface and material suit the space.
Washable or vinyl-coated materials are easier to maintain. Wallpaper should be protected from excessive heat, grease, steam, and direct water.
Yes — ceiling and stairway installations may be available depending on accessibility, height, material, and project conditions.
These areas need extra equipment, setup, and time. Please include photos and approximate ceiling heights when requesting an estimate.
Process, Results & Care
A standard accent wall can often be completed in one day. Larger rooms, stairways, ceilings, murals, detailed patterns, and specialty materials may take longer.
The schedule also depends on wall preparation, removal, room access, and installation complexity. We provide an estimated timeline after reviewing your project.
Wallpaper is installed in separate strips or panels, so seams may be visible up close. Their appearance depends on the color, texture, material, lighting, wall condition, and manufacturing quality.
Professional installation keeps seams straight, aligned, and as discreet as the material allows. Natural wallcoverings like grasscloth are designed to show panel variation and seams.
Not always. Natural and handmade wallcoverings may have intentional variation in color, texture, and weave.
Grasscloth, cork, silk, wood veneer, and similar materials commonly show visible paneling and shade differences. These are characteristics of the material, not installation defects.
Before installation day, please:
- Remove artwork, mirrors, shelves, and wall decorations
- Move small furniture and personal items out of the work area
- Provide access to electrical outlets and water
- Keep children and pets away from the installation area
- Confirm the wallpaper has arrived and isn't visibly damaged
- Keep all wallpaper labels and installation instructions
Large furniture can sometimes stay in the room if it moves far enough from the walls.
Yes — outlet and switch covers usually need to come off so the wallpaper can be installed neatly around the openings.
For safety, any electrical modifications or removal of hardwired fixtures should be handled by a qualified electrician when needed.
We inspect the material during installation, but the client is responsible for purchasing and approving the wallpaper.
If we spot a possible defect, color inconsistency, printing issue, or damaged panel, we may pause and ask you to contact the supplier. Labor, replacement material, and rescheduling costs related to defective wallpaper are generally not covered by the installer.
High-quality wallpaper can last many years when installed correctly, maintained properly, and used in a suitable environment.
Lifespan depends on the material, wall preparation, room conditions, moisture, direct sunlight, and normal wear.
Always follow the manufacturer's care instructions.
Some vinyl and washable wallpapers can be gently wiped with a soft, damp cloth. Natural, handmade, metallic, or delicate wallcoverings may be damaged by water or cleaning products. Don't scrub or use abrasive cleaners unless the manufacturer approves them.
Working Together & Guarantee
Yes. We work with homeowners, interior designers, builders, remodeling contractors, property managers, business owners, and other trade professionals.
We can help with accent walls, full rooms, offices, retail spaces, restaurants, model homes, and other residential or commercial projects.
Installation requires accurate measuring, surface preparation, pattern matching, trimming, adhesive control, and careful seam placement.
Professional work reduces the risk of crooked panels, visible gaps, damaged wallpaper, bubbles, lifting seams, and ordering errors — especially valuable for expensive wallpaper, murals, natural materials, high walls, and detailed patterns.
We stand behind the quality of our workmanship.
A workmanship warranty applies to installation-related issues and does not cover manufacturing defects, natural material variation, wall movement, moisture, leaks, building settlement, damage caused by other contractors, or failure of wallpaper supplied by the client. Specific terms are included in your project agreement.
